Zofran for nausea and vomiting due to chemotherapy has been studied in children as young as four years old. Zofran for other uses (including radiation and surgery) has not been studied in children. Talk to your healthcare provider about the risks and benefits of using Zofran in children less than four years old.
Off-Label Zofran Uses
On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend Zofran for something other than the condition(s) discussed above. This is called an "off-label" use. At this time, there are a few off-label Zofran uses, such as:
Treatment of nausea and vomiting (once it starts)
Treatment or prevention of morning sickness (nausea and vomiting during pregnancy)
Treatment of alcoholism (alcohol addiction)
Treatment or prevention of chronic nausea or vomiting (long-term nausea or vomiting).
