Ziv-Aflibercept Dosage

People who receive ziv-aflibercept will be given a dosage based on how much they weigh and how they respond to the medicine. This prescription chemotherapy drug is given as a slow injection into a vein once every two weeks. If you develop serious side effects, you may need to temporarily or permanently stop using this drug.

An Introduction to Your Dosage of Ziv-Aflibercept

The dose of ziv-aflibercept (Zaltrap®) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on:

  • Your weight
  • How you tolerate the medication.

As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Recommended Ziv-Aflibercept Dosing Guidelines

The standard recommended dosage of ziv-aflibercept for the treatment of colorectal cancer is 0.4 mg per kg body weight (about 0.18 mg per lb) once every two weeks. Treatment normally continues until the cancer progresses or severe side effects occur.

If you develop potentially serious side effects during treatment, your healthcare provider may recommend you temporarily stop using the medication until your side effects improve, and then restart you at a lower ziv-aflibercept dose. In some cases, these problems may be severe enough that you need to stop treatment altogether.
