Zevalin Drug Interactions

Zevalin Drug Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Zevalin is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

Amphotericin B
Combining Zevalin with amphotericin B could increase your risk for amphotericin B side effects, such as kidney damage, low blood pressure (hypotension), and breathing problems. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor you more closely if you use these medications together.

Clozapine
Using clozapine and Zevalin together may increase the risk for dangerously low white blood cells, which would increase your risk for infections. Talk to your healthcare provider before using these medicines together.

Digoxin
Zevalin may decrease the amount of digoxin absorbed into the bloodstream, which could make digoxin less effective. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor you more closely if you use these medicines together, and adjust your digoxin dosage if necessary.

Biologic and Immunologic Medications
Combining Zevalin with other medications that suppress the immune system may increase the risk for side effects, such as potentially serious infections and low blood cell counts, including as low white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. Your healthcare provider may want to monitor you more closely if you use these medicines together.

Echinacea
Echinacea can make Zevalin less effective. This is because echinacea is thought to stimulate the activity of the immune system, while Zevalin works by suppressing the activity of the immune system. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking echinacea during Zevalin treatment.

Live Vaccinations
Live vaccines contain live viruses or bacteria. If you receive a live vaccine while using Zevalin, you might become infected with the virus or bacteria from the vaccine. Also, live vaccines may be less effective in people receiving Zevalin. Talk to your healthcare provider before receiving a vaccination during or within the first few months after Zevalin therapy.
