Xgeva Drug Interactions

No drug interaction studies have been done with Xgeva, so it is unknown which medications might cause negative reactions with this product. However, it is thought that medications that suppress the immune system, such as cyclosporine, azathioprine, and other immunosuppressants, could interact with Xgeva and increase the risk for serious infections.

An Overview of Interactions With Xgeva

Xgeva® (denosumab) is a prescription medication given as an injection under the skin. At this time, there are no clearly established drug interactions with Xgeva. However, this does not guarantee that Xgeva will not interact with other medications; it simply reflects the fact that no drug interaction studies have been done with Xgeva.
 
Based on the study results that suggest Xgeva may increase the risk of infections, including serious infections, it is predicted that Xgeva may interact with medications that suppress the immune system. Some of these products include but are not limited to:
 
 
 
  • Corticosteroids, such as:
 
    • Betamethasone (Celestone®)
    • Cortisone
    • Dexamethasone (Decadron®)
    • Fludrocortisone (Florinef®)
    • Hydrocortisone (Cortef®)
    • Methylprednisolone (Depo-Medrol®, Medrol®)
    • Prednisolone (Pediapred®)
    • Prednisone
    • Triamcinolone (Kenalog®)
