Vemurafenib (
Zelboraf™) is a prescription medication approved to treat
melanoma (a type of
skin cancer) that cannot be treated with surgery or has spread to other areas of the body (metastasized). It is meant for use in people who have an abnormal BRAF V600E gene.
Just like any medicine, vemurafenib can cause side effects.
Although not everyone who takes the drug will have problems, most people will experience some type of side effect during treatment.
If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are mild or moderate in severity and either require no treatment or can be treated by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
Common side effects of vemurafenib include but are not limited to:
- Joint pain
- A rash
- Hair loss
- Fatigue
- Sun sensitivity.
