Triptorelin
Triptorelin is a drug used to treat advanced cases of prostate cancer. It is a long-lasting medicine that can be given once every one, three, or six months. Each injection is given in a healthcare setting, such as at your doctor's office. Although most men tolerate it well, side effects are possible and may include things like pain, hot flashes, and headache.
Triptorelin pamoate (Trelstar®) is a prescription medication approved for the management of advanced prostate cancer. It is a long-acting injectable medicine given every one, three, or six months. Triptorelin slows the growth of prostate cancer cells and eases symptoms of the disease. However, it is not a prostate cancer cure.

Just like any medicine, triptorelin can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. Most people tolerate it quite well.
If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.
Some of the common side effects seen with triptorelin include:
- Hot flashes
- Pain
- Impotence (erectile dysfunction, or ED)
- Headache.
