Drug Interactions With Triptorelin

More Information on Drug Interactions With Triptorelin

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when triptorelin is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

Medications That Cause Hyperprolactinemia
The manufacturer of triptorelin recommends it not be used with medications that increase prolactin levels. High prolactin levels cause a decrease in gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) receptors in the pituitary gland.

Because triptorelin works by binding to GnRH receptors, a decrease may alter triptorelin's effectiveness. It is unknown if this interaction actually occurs, however, as it has never been studied.

Diabetes Medications
There have been reports of increased blood glucose levels in people with diabetes who took medications similar to triptorelin in combination with diabetes medications. If you have diabetes, your healthcare provider may have you check your blood glucose levels during treatment. The dose of your diabetes medications may need to be adjusted.

Final Thoughts

It is possible that not all drug interactions with triptorelin were discussed in this article. Therefore, you should talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about any specific interactions that may apply to you.
