Drug Interactions With Toremifene

A number of products can cause drug interactions when combined with toremifene, including St. John's wort, certain antidepressants, and antifungal medications. Some of these reactions may increase your risk for developing potentially serious complications, such as heart rhythm problems or dangerous bleeding. Your healthcare provider can help minimize these risks if he or she is aware of all medications and supplements you are taking.

 

An Overview of Toremifene Interactions

Toremifene citrate (Fareston®) can potentially react with a number of other medications. Some of the products that may lead to drug interactions with toremifene include but are not limited to:
 
  • Aminoglutethimide (Cytadren®)
  • Certain antibiotics, including clarithromycin (Biaxin®) and telithromycin (Ketek®)
  • Certain antifungal medicines, such as:
    • Itraconazole (Sporanox®)
    • Ketoconazole (Nizoral®)
    • Voriconazole (Vfend®)
