SUTENT and Renal Cancer

 SUTENT® (sunitinib) is a chemotherapy drug that belongs to a group of medicines called tyrosine kinase inhibitors. It is approved to treat different types of cancer, including:
 
SUTENT is not approved to treat every type of renal cancer. However, it is licensed for the treatment of advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC), which starts in the lining of very small tubes (called tubules) in the kidneys. Advanced RCC is also sometimes called stage IV cancer or metastatic kidney cancer. There are other types of kidney cancer; however, RCC is the most common.
