SUTENT and Pancreatic Cancer

The prescription drug
SUTENT® (sunitinib) is used to treat various types of cancer, including pancreatic cancer. In particular, this chemotherapy medication is approved for treating pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PNET), which are found in certain tissues of the pancreas where hormones are produced. PNET is also sometimes called pancreatic islet cell cancer.

SUTENT is approved to treat PNET that has spread just beyond the pancreas (is "locally advanced") or to other areas of the body (is "metastatic") and cannot be treated with surgery.
