Stomach Cancer Types

The most common type of stomach cancer is gastric adenocarcinoma, or cancer of the glandular tissue in the stomach. Other types include lymphomas (cancer involving the lymphatic system) and sarcomas (cancer of the connective tissue, such as muscle, fat, or blood vessels).

Stomach Cancer Types: An Introduction

Throughout the last couple of years, the number of new cases of stomach cancer in the United States seems to be steady, while the number of deaths due to stomach cancer has greatly decreased.
 
The number of cases of stomach cancer found in the part of the stomach that is closest to the duodenum (the first part of the small intestine) has been decreasing and the number of cases of stomach cancer found at the junction between the esophagus and the stomach has been increasing.
 

Specific Types of Stomach Cancer
