For a biopsy, the doctor will use an endoscope to remove tissue from the stomach. A pathologist will then check the tissue under a microscope for cancer cells. A biopsy is the only sure way to know if cancer cells are present.
CT Scan
A CT scan (also known as a CAT scan) is a procedure that takes a series of detailed pictures of areas inside the body from different angles. A computer linked to an x-ray machine will create these pictures. A dye may be injected into a vein or swallowed to help the organs or tissues show up more clearly on the x-rays. This procedure is also called computerized tomography or computerized axial tomography.
