Romidepsin Side Effects

If you are undergoing romidepsin treatment, you will likely develop some type of side effect. Clinical research has shown that many people experience reactions like vomiting, weakness, and nausea. It is also important to identify potentially serious side effects of romidepsin. Notify your healthcare provider immediately if you develop an abnormal heartbeat, unusual bruising, or other serious complications.

An Introduction to Side Effects of Romidepsin

Just like any medicine, romidepsin (Istodax®) can cause side effects and, like other chemotherapy medicines, the reactions can be significant. Although not everyone who uses this drug will have problems, most people will experience some type of side effect. Serious Romidepsin Side Effects

Some side effects of romidepsin are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
 
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, such as:
 
    • An unexplained rash
    • Hives
    • Unexplained swelling, especially of the mouth, lips, or throat
    • Wheezing
    • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
 
  • Signs of infection, such as:
 
    • Fever
    • Aches and pains
    • Shortness of breath
    • Sore throat
    • Cough
    • Painful urination
    • Flu-like symptoms
 
  • Signs of anemia, such as:
 
    • Unusual tiredness
    • Weakness
    • Pale skin
    • Shortness of breath
 
  • Sores, peeling, or blistering of the skin or mouth
  • Unusual bleeding or bruising
  • A fast, abnormal, or irregular heartbeat
  • Dizziness or fainting
  • Chest pain
  • Swelling of the arms, legs, ankles, or feet
  • Severe or persistent vomiting or diarrhea.
