Dangerous Side Effects and Revlimid

Make sure to review the risks that may apply to you before starting treatment with Revlimid® (lenalidomide), as this drug can cause potentially dangerous side effects. Revlimid may not be safe for some people, including those who have certain allergies, lactose intolerance, or a history of a blood clot in the lungs or veins.
 
Revlimid can cause a number of complications in some people. Some of these dangerous problems include:
 
  • Low levels of white blood cells, which can increase your risk for infections
  • Low levels of platelets, which can cause bleeding problems
  • A potentially life-threatening skin rash called Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS)
  • Liver damage.

 

It is also very important that women not take Revlimid during pregnancy, as it can result in birth defects or fetal death.
