Regorafenib Dosage

People who take regorafenib usually receive a dosage of 160 mg, which is taken once a day in the morning for 21 days, followed by a 7-day break from the medicine. However, people who develop serious side effects from this chemotherapy medicine may need a lower amount. Treatment typically lasts until the cancer progresses or severe side effects occur.

An Introduction to Your Dosage of Regorafenib

The dose of regorafenib (Stivarga®) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on how you tolerate the medication. As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Recommended Regorafenib Dosing Guidelines

The standard recommended dosage of regorafenib for the treatment of colorectal cancer is 160 mg once a day for 21 days, followed by a 7-day break when no regorafenib is taken. Treatment normally continues in the same way (21 days of taking the medicine, followed by a 7-day break) until the cancer progresses or severe side effects occur.
If you develop certain potentially serious side effects during treatment, your healthcare provider may recommend you temporarily stop taking the medication until your side effects improve, stop treatment altogether, or reduce your regorafenib dose. Normally, doses are first reduced to 120 mg a day, and then to 80 mg a day if the 120-mg dose is not tolerated.
It is recommended that regorafenib be taken with a low-fat breakfast that contains less than 30 percent fat. Examples of a low-fat breakfast include the following:
  • Two pieces of white toast with one tablespoon low-fat margarine and one tablespoon of jelly, plus eight ounces of skim milk
  • One cup of cereal, eight ounces of skim milk, one slice of toast with jam, apple juice, and one cup of coffee or tea.
