Precautions and Warnings With Rasburicase

Who Should Not Receive Rasburicase?

You should not use rasburicase if you:
 
  • Are allergic to it, Elitek, or any of the inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
 
  • Have had a severe allergic or blood reaction to Elitek or rasburicase in the past.
 
  • Developed methemoglobinemia (a blood disorder in which an abnormal amount of methemoglobin, a form of hemoglobin, is produced) from Elitek or rasburicase in the past.
 
  • Have glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency.
