Pazopanib and Pancreatic Cancer

As a type of
tyrosine kinase inhibitor, pazopanib (Votrient®) can help slow down the progression of certain types of cancer, including advanced renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer) and advanced soft tissue sarcoma (soft tissue cancer) in adults. This prescription medication works by blocking certain enzymes in the body that are responsible for helping the cancer cells grow and multiply.

On occasion, pazopanib can be also prescribed to treat pancreatic cancer. However, this is not an approved use of the medication. In addition, pazopanib is not approved for use in children, as it has not been adequately studied in this age group.

(Click What Is Pazopanib Used For? for more detailed information on approved and unapproved uses for this cancer medication. Pazopanib use in children and older adults is also discussed.)
