Pazopanib and Moderate Hepatic Impairment

Although
pazopanib (Votrient®) can be an effective treatment for advanced renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer) and advanced soft tissue sarcoma (cancer of the body's soft tissues, such as muscle, tendons, and fat), it is not an appropriate medicine for everyone. For example, people with moderate liver disease (moderate hepatic impairment) will need lower pazopanib doses, as this medicine can cause potentially life-threatening liver problems.

Your healthcare provider will monitor your liver function with blood tests during pazopanib treatment. If you begin to develop liver problems, your healthcare provider may recommend you stop taking this medication. Contact your healthcare provider right away if you experience signs of liver problems, such as:

  • Fatigue or excessive tiredness
  • Dark urine
  • Yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes (jaundice).
