Panitumumab Side Effects

Although not every who receives panitumumab will experience problems, most people will develop some type of side effect. Panitumumab has been shown to cause potentially serious problems, such as severe skin reactions or swelling of the throat, which should be reported to your healthcare provider immediately. Some of the more commonly reported reactions to this drug include fatigue, abdominal (stomach) pain, and constipation.

Just like any medicine, panitumumab (Vectibix^®) can cause side effects. Not everyone who receives the medication will have problems. However, most people will experience some type of side effect during panitumumab treatment. Some side effects may be treated by your healthcare provider with other medicines.

Serious Panitumumab Side Effects

Some side effects of panitumumab are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider.

These include but are not limited to:

Signs of an allergic reaction or infusion reaction (a reaction that happens during or shortly after your dose), such as:

Rash
Hives
Swelling of the mouth, tongue, face, lips, or throat
Difficulty breathing
Fever
Chills

Lung problems, such as:

Wheezing
Breathing difficulty
Persistent cough

Severe or persistent skin reactions or increased redness or swelling of the skin
Signs of infection, such as:

Fever
Chills
Body aches

Eye irritation, swelling, or pain
Changes in vision
Diarrhea, particularly severe or prolonged diarrhea
Signs of dehydration, such as:

Decreased urination
Dry mouth or lips
Sunken eyes

Sores, blisters, pain, or swelling in the mouth.
