Drug Interactions With Pamidronate

Certain medications may cause drug interactions with pamidronate, including nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, thalidomide, and aminoglycoside antibiotics. Since these interactions could potentially increase your risk for kidney damage or low blood calcium, talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medicines with pamidronate. Drug interactions can also occur with other medications, so be sure to check with your healthcare provider before using any drugs.

 

Pamidronate Drug Interactions: An Overview

Pamidronate disodium (Aredia®) can potentially interact with a few different medications. Some of the medicines that may lead to pamidronate interactions include:
 
  • Aminoglycoside antibiotics, such as:
o Amikacin (Amikin®)
o Gentamicin
o Kanamycin (Kantrex®)
o Neomycin (Neo-Fradin®)
o Streptomycin
o Tobramycin
  • Diuretics, such as:
o Triamterene (Dyrenium®) or triamterene/HCTZ (Dyazide®, Maxzide®)
  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as:
o Diclofenac (Cataflam®, Voltaren®)
o Ibuprofen (Motrin®, Advil®)
o Ketoprofen (Orudis®)
  • Thalidomide (Thalomid®)
  • Vancomycin (Vancocin®).
