Oxaliplatin and Cold Sensitivity

If you are undergoing chemotherapy treatment with oxaliplatin (Eloxatin®), you may develop sensitivity to cold temperatures or other nerve problems. These problems can occur after your first dose, or up to two days after you start the medication.

To help minimize cold sensitivity caused by oxaliplatin, you should avoid exposure to the cold during treatment. For example, do not drink cold beverages, use ice, or touch cold objects. Also, cover your skin before going outside in cold weather.

If you experience extreme sensitivity to cold temperatures and objects, contact your healthcare provider right away.
