Morphine sulfate/naltrexone hydrochloride is a type of narcotic primarily used for relieving pain. This prescription medication contains tiny, extended-release beads that release morphine evenly throughout the day. Each bead contains a dose of naltrexone, which counteracts the effects of morphine if the drug is taken incorrectly (such as if it is crushed or dissolved in order to snort or inject the medication). Common side effects include constipation and drowsiness.

What Are the Side Effects?

As with any medicine,

morphine sulfate/naltrexone hydrochloride can cause side effects. However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience side effects. Most people tolerate it quite well.

If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
