If you are taking valproate products or certain medications that cause a change in heart rhythm, you may not be able to take Zolinza safely. Drug interactions such as these may lead to dangerous complications, such as infections, bleeding problems, and life-threatening arrhythmias. Do not start or stop taking medications during treatment without first talking to your healthcare provider.
An Overview of Interactions With ZolinzaZolinza® (vorinostat) may react with several other products. Some of the drugs that can interact with Zolinza include but are not limited to:
- Clozapine (Clozaril®, FazaClo®)
- Medications that cause a certain change in the heart rhythm known as QT prolongation (see QT-Prolonging Medications for a list of such drugs)
- Valproate medications, such as:

Taking Zolinza with clozapine may increase your risk for dangerously low white blood cells, which could cause serious infections. In general, these medicines should not be taken together. Talk to your healthcare provider about this potential interaction if you take clozapine. It is very important to not stop taking clozapine without first speaking to your healthcare provider.
