Certain drugs may not be safe to use while undergoing treatment with Zanosar, as potentially serious interactions can occur. In particular, combining Zanosar with certain immunosuppressants, echinacea, or clozapine may decrease the effectiveness of Zanosar or increase your risk for serious infections. Your healthcare provider may need to monitor you more closely in this case, or may recommend you stop taking certain medications.

An Overview of Interactions With Zanosar

Zanosar® (streptozocin) may react with a number of other products. Some of the medications that may lead to a drug interaction with Zanosar include but are not limited to:
 
  • Amphotericin B (Abelcet®, AmBisome®, Amphotec®)
  • Certain other immunosuppressants, such as:
 
 
 
 
  • Medicines that are toxic to the kidneys
  • Medicines that lower blood glucose (blood sugar) levels, such as:
