Caucasian women are more likely than African-American women to get uterine cancer.
Women who have had an inherited form of colon cancer or rectal cancer have a higher risk of developing uterine cancer than other women.
Other risk factors for uterine cancer are related to how long a woman's body is exposed to estrogen. Women who are at a higher risk of estrogen exposure include:
- Women who do not have children
- Women who began menstruation at a young age
- Women who enter menopause late in life.
Uterine cancer research scientists are continuing to search for the cause or causes of uterine cancer. Women with known risk factors, and those who are concerned about the disease, should talk to their healthcare provider. His or her advice will be based on the woman's age, medical history, and other factors.
