Sipuleucel-T (PROVENGE®) is a drug prescribed to help lengthen the life of men with prostate cancer that has spread to other areas of the body (metastasized). It is specifically approved for men who have minimal to no cancer symptoms and who do not respond adequately to hormone therapy.
This medicine is individually made for each person, using the body's own immune cells. These cells are mixed with a certain protein that causes them to activate and attack prostate cancer cells.
Although sipuleucel-T is generally well tolerated, it is not suitable for everyone. Possible side effects may include chills, fever, and fatigue.
