If you take certain medications while undergoing treatment with sipuleucel-T, there is a possibility for drug interactions. Specifically, combining immunosuppressant medications with sipuleucel-T can make this prostate cancer medication less effective. To avoid any complications, make sure your healthcare provider knows if you are taking prednisone, cortisone, or any other immunosuppressants.

An Overview of Sipuleucel-T Interactions

Sipuleucel-T (PROVENGE®) may react with a number of other medications. Some of the drugs that can lead to interactions with sipuleucel-T include but are not limited to:
  • Immunosuppressants, such as:
    • Corticosteroids, such as:
      • Betamethasone (Celestone®)
      • Cortisone
      • Dexamethasone (Decadron®)
      • Fludrocortisone (Florinef®)
      • Hydrocortisone (Cortef®)
      • Methylprednisolone (Depo-Medrol®, Medrol®)
      • Prednisolone (Pediapred®)
      • Prednisone
      • Triamcinolone (Kenalog®)
