Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs)
Combining Nucynta ER with an MAOI can cause life-threatening reactions. Do not use Nucynta ER and an MAOI within 14 days of each other.
 
Short-Acting Tapentadol
Nucynta ER should not be combined with short-acting tapentadol, as these medications have the same active ingredient. If a short-acting medication is needed for breakthrough pain, your healthcare provider should choose something other than short-acting tapentadol.
 
Sibutramine
Taking Nucynta ER with sibutramine can cause a group of symptoms called serotonin syndrome. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of serotonin syndrome, as it can be quite dangerous.
 
St. John's Wort
Taking Nucynta ER with St. John's wort can cause a group of symptoms called serotonin syndrome. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of serotonin syndrome, as it can be quite dangerous.
 
Tramadol
Taking Nucynta ER with tramadol can cause a group of symptoms called serotonin syndrome. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of serotonin syndrome, as it can be quite dangerous.
 
Triptans
Taking Nucynta ER with a triptan can cause a group of symptoms called serotonin syndrome. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of serotonin syndrome, as it can be quite dangerous.
 
Tryptophan
Taking Nucynta ER with tryptophan can cause a group of symptoms called serotonin syndrome. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of serotonin syndrome, as it can be quite dangerous.
