Nucynta ER Drug Interactions ExplainedThe following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Nucynta ER is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
You must not consume alcohol in any form (including in foods or medications) while taking Nucynta ER. Alcohol changes the rate at which the tablets release the medication, perhaps leading to a potentially fatal overdose.
Combining Nucynta ER with anticholinergic medications increases the risk for serious problems, such as an intestinal blockage or difficulty passing urine. Check with your healthcare provider before combining such medications, even ones that are available without a prescription.
Taking Nucynta ER with linezolid can increase the risk of a group of symptoms called serotonin syndrome. These symptoms can include:
- A fast heartbeat
- Feeling faint
- Muscle spasms
- Difficulty walking
Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any of these symptoms, as serotonin syndrome can be quite dangerous.
Medications That Cause Drowsiness
Combining Nucynta ER with any other medication that causes drowsiness can increase your risk for side effects, such as drowsiness, confusion, memory loss, or difficulty breathing. Serious side effects may also occur. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking Nucynta ER with such medications. In addition, combining Nucynta ER with antidepressants (some of which may cause drowsiness) can increase the risk of serotonin syndrome.
