To help minimize risks, make sure you understand Neulasta warnings and precautions before taking the drug. Prior to using Neulasta, let your healthcare provider know if you have myeloid cancers or precancerous conditions, sickle cell anemia, or any allergies. It is important to know that Neulasta may potentially cause adult respiratory distress syndrome, stimulate the growth of cancer cells, or worsen sickle cell anemia.
You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking Neulasta® (pegfilgrastim) if you have:
- Sickle cell anemia
- Myeloid cancers or precancerous conditions, such as:
o Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS)o Myeloproliferative disease
- Any allergies, including allergies to food, dyes, or preservatives.
Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are:
- Pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant
Make sure to tell your healthcare provider about all other medicines you are taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
