Make sure to store Lazanda in a safe place, out of the reach of children, and empty any leftover liquid into the special pouch for disposal.
An Introduction to Storing and Disposing of LazandaLazanda® (fentanyl nasal spray) is a strong narcotic pain reliever, used for the treatment of breakthrough cancer pain. It should only be used by people who are already using an opioid medication on a regular basis for their underlying pain.
Lazanda is a highly desirable drug of abuse. In addition, it has the potential to cause an overdose if used by children, people for whom the medicine was not prescribed, and people who are not already taking opioids. Therefore, it is important to store and dispose of Lazanda properly in order to help prevent possible theft or accidental ingestion.
How Should Lazanda Be Stored? Each Lazanda bottle comes with a child-resistant container and a special pouch for disposal. Put the bottle in its child-resistant container immediately after each use. Store all opened and unopened bottles and disposal pouches in a secure place, out of the reach of children.
- All 8 sprays have been used
- It has been 5 days or more since you last used the bottle
- It has been 14 days or more since you primed the bottle.
Any liquid remaining in the bottle must be emptied into the provided pouch before throwing the bottle away. To do this, spray the bottle into the pouch until you see the number eight in the counting window. Then spray an additional four times, to remove any lingering medicine.
When you are finished spraying Lazanda into the pouch, seal the pouch and place the empty Lazanda bottle into its child-resistant container. The pouch and child-resistant container may then be thrown away into the trash. Wash your hands with soap and water immediately after handling the pouch.
