Many causes of bleeding that are not from your period can be controlled with medicines. Some medicines you might try are: birth control pills, other hormones, or anti-inflammatory medicines such as ibuprofen, Aleve, Motrin, or naproxen.
If the medicine does not help, you doctor might try a surgery called ablation or resection. This surgery either burns a layer of your uterus with a laser or electric current, or takes out the layer with special tools. This doesn't take out the fibroids, but can make the bleeding less. This type of surgery does not help people who have pain in their abdomen because of fibroids.
