Pancreatitis or inflammation of the pancreas is a common complication with ERCP. This complication is most often related to the dye used. Most cases of pancreatitis are mild, meaning that they require a few extra days in the hospital but have no long-term problems. However, in some cases it can become complicated and life-threatening.
