Paroxetine (Paxil, Paxil CR)
Combining paroxetine and Emend can decrease the level of both medications in your blood, making them less effective. Your healthcare provider may need to increase your dose of these medications.
 
Pimozide (Orap)
Emend should never be taken with pimozide, as life-threatening reactions may occur.
 
Protease Inhibitors
Protease inhibitors can increase the level of Emend in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking Emend with a protease inhibitor.
 
Rifamycin Antibiotics
Rifamycin antibiotics can decrease the level of Emend in your blood, making it less effective. Your healthcare provider may need to increase your Emend dosage.
 
Some Chemotherapy Medications
Emend may increase the level of some chemotherapy medications in your blood. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your dose of such chemotherapy medications.
 
Terfenadine (Seldane)
Emend should never be taken with terfenadine, as life-threatening reactions may occur. While terfenadine has been withdrawn from the market in the United States, it may be available in other countries.
 
Tolbutamide (Orinase)
Emend may decrease the level of tolbutamide in your blood, making it less effective. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking Emend with tolbutamide.
 
Warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven)
Emend may decrease the level of warfarin in your blood, increasing your risk of blood clots. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
