The dose of Duraclon® (clonidine hydrochloride) that your healthcare provider recommends will depend mostly on how you respond to the medication. As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
In most cases, the recommended starting dose of Duraclon is 30 mcg per hour, given continuously through an epidural infusion. Your healthcare provider may increase or decrease the dose as necessary.
Some considerations for people taking Duraclon include the following:
- Duraclon is given as a continuous epidural infusion, much like with other types of "pain pumps."
- For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed. Duraclon will not work if you stop taking it.
- In general, this medication should not be stopped suddenly, as serious problems may result.
- If you are unsure about anything related to your Duraclon dosage, please talk with your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
