Cancer Home > What Is Dasatinib Used For?
Acute Lymphoblastic LeukemiaAcute lymphoblastic leukemia (sometimes called acute lymphocytic leukemia, or ALL) is a rapidly progressing leukemia in which the bone marrow produces a large number of lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell). The lymphocytes crowd out the healthy white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. As a result, infections, anemia, and bleeding may occur.
ALL is the most common type of leukemia in young children, but it can also affect adults. The Ph chromosome is also found in people with ALL.
Dasatinib is approved for people with Ph chromosome-positive ALL that was resistant to other medications. It is also used for people who cannot tolerate other leukemia medications.
