When and How to Take This Medicine

Some general considerations to keep in mind during treatment with crizotinib include the following:
 
  • This medication comes in the form of a capsule. It is normally taken by mouth twice daily.
  • You can take crizotinib with or without food.
  • The capsules should be swallowed whole; do not open, crush, or dissolve them.
  • You should avoid drinking grapefruit juice while taking this medicine, unless your healthcare provider tells you otherwise.
  • Try to take your doses at the same time each day to keep an even level of the drug in your bloodstream.
  • For crizotinib to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed.
 

Storage Information

This medication should be stored at room temperature, in its original container. Keep this and all other medicines out of the reach of children and pets.
 

Is There a Generic Version?

Crizotinib is not available in generic form (see Generic Xalkori).

Crizotinib is made by Pfizer Ireland Pharmaceuticals for Pfizer Labs.
 

Available Strengths

Crizotinib capsules come in 200-mg and 250-mg strengths.
