Cancer Home > Pancreatic Cancer Treatments

If you have been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, your treatment options will depend on factors such as:

  • The stage of the cancer
  • Where the tumor originated
  • Whether the cancer has spread outside the pancreas.
  •
At this time, the disease can only be cured if it is found at an early stage (before it has spread) and only if you are healthy enough to have surgery. However, treatments other than surgery may be used to control the disease and improve quality of life. Chemotherapy and radiation therapy are some of the other options that your healthcare provider may recommend.

When a cure is not possible, palliative therapy may be used; while it cannot cure or treat pancreatic cancer, it can improve quality of life by controlling pain and other problems caused by the disease.
