Cancer Home > Caphosol Solution Information

Caphosol® (supersaturated calcium phosphate rinse) is a medicated mouth rinse available by prescription only. It is given to help relieve a dry mouth and throat due to any cause. It is also approved for treating mouth sores (known medically as mucositis) caused by radiation or high-dose chemotherapy treatment.

Available as a liquid solution, Caphosol is normally used to rinse the mouth several times a day, usually 2 to 10 times a day. While generally safe and effective, this product may not be the best choice for certain people. Before prescribing Caphosol solution, your healthcare provider will need information on your medical history, especially if you have any allergies, high blood pressure, or congestive heart failure.
