Also known as gastric cancer, stomach cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, especially in developing countries. This condition occurs when cancerous cells first develop in the stomach. In the early stages, symptoms may include:
- Indigestion and stomach discomfort
- A bloated feeling after eating
- Mild nausea.
As the disease progresses, symptoms may include:
- Blood in the stool
- Weight loss for no known reason
- Stomach pain.
If stomach cancer is diagnosed during its early stages, people have a greater chance for recovery. However, when it is not diagnosed until its later stages, people can be treated, but can rarely be cured.
