Lazanda Drug Interactions
Several products can cause negative drug interactions with Lazanda, including alcohol, grapefruit juice, and medicines that cause drowsiness. Some of these reactions could increase your risk for serious side effects, such as drowsiness, confusion, or difficulty breathing. To reduce your risk of problems, tell your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking, including nonprescription medicines and herbal supplements.
An Overview of Interactions With Lazanda
Lazanda® (fentanyl nasal spray) may react with a number of other medications. Some of the medicines that may lead to drug interactions with Lazanda include but are not limited to:- Alcohol
- CYP 3A4 inducer medications, such as:
- Aminoglutethimide (Cytadren®)
- Bosentan (Tracleer®)
- Carbamazepine (Carbatrol®, Epitol®, Equetro®, Tegretol®)
- Dexamethasone (Decadron®, Dexpak®, Maxidex®)
- Efavirenz (Sustiva®)
- Efavirenz, emtricitabine, and tenofovir (Atripla®)
- Etravirine (Intelence™)
- Fosphenytoin (Cerebyx®)
- Nafcillin
- Nevirapine (Viramune®)
- Oxcarbazepine (Trileptal®)
- Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
- Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
- Phenytoin (Dilantin®, Phenytek®)
- Primidone (Mysoline®)
- Rifabutin (Mycobutin®)
- Rifampin (Rifadin®)
- Rifapentine (Priftin®)
- St. John's wort
- CYP 3A4 inhibitor medications, such as:
- Amprenavir (Agenerase®)
- Atazanavir (Reyataz®)
- Clarithromycin (Biaxin®)

- Erythromycin

- Lopinavir and ritonavir (Kaletra®)
- Miconazole

- Medications that cause drowsiness, such as:
- Antipsychotic medications
- Anxiety medications
- Most antidepressants
- Muscle relaxants
- Narcotic pain relievers
- Sleep medications
- Some antihistamines
- Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), such as:
- Isocarboxazid (Marplan®)
- Phenelzine (Nardil®)
- Rasagiline (Azilect®)
- Selegiline (Eldepryl®, Emsam®, Zelapar®)
- Tranylcypromine (Parnate®)
- Nasal decongestants, such as:
- Naphazoline (Privine® Nasal Spray)
- Oxymetazoline nasal spray (Afrin®, Nostrilla®, Sudafed OM®, and many others)
- Phenylephrine
- Tetrahydrozoline (Tyzine®)
- Xylometazoline (Triaminic®).
