General Information on Dosing With Lapatinib

Considerations for people taking lapatinib include the following:
 
  • Lapatinib comes in tablet form and is taken by mouth once daily. Take all the tablets in one dose; do not split them into two or more smaller doses per day.
     
  • The medication should be taken at least an hour before or one hour after a meal.
     
  • Lapatinib should be taken at the same time each day to maintain an even level in your blood.
     
  • For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed. Lapatinib will not work if you stop taking it.
     
  • If you are unsure about anything related to lapatinib or your lapatinib dosage, talk to your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. Do not stop taking the drug without discussing it with your healthcare provider.
