Closed Caption - LAVH Risks -- Urinary Tract Infection

A urinary tract infection is when the organs and/or the tubes that carry your urine get infected. This can be your kidneys, the tubes that carry urine to your bladder, your bladder, or the tubes that carry urine to the outside of your body. Most times you will get medicine to help the infection heal. Sometimes you might need to stay longer in the hospital, but that doesn't happen very often. Urinary tract infections happen in about 3 out of 100 hysterectomy patients.
