Following hysterectomy, your results will depend upon what happens during your surgery and what is found.
If your hysterectomy was done for a pre-cancerous condition, you should be free of the disease in that area.
If the hysterectomy was done for a cancerous growth, the results will depend on how much tissue with cancer in it was found. It is possible that depending on what your doctor finds during the surgery, your doctor may need to remove any other affected tissue or organs. It is also possible that if the cancer is too widespread, your doctor may not take out anything.
If a problem requires additional treatment after the procedure, your doctor will talk about these findings with you along with your treatment alternatives or choices. You should talk about your situation and the expected results with your doctor.
