Drug Interactions With Ifosfamide

Echinacea
Echinacea may decrease the effectiveness of ifosfamide. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these products together.

Live Vaccinations
Live vaccines contain live viruses or bacteria. Because you are more susceptible to infections during ifosfamide treatment, you could become infected with the virus or bacteria used to make the live vaccine. Also, live vaccines may be less effective in people using ifosfamide. In general, people receiving this drug should not receive live vaccines. Therefore, you should talk to your healthcare provider before receiving a vaccination during chemotherapy treatment.

Medications That Cause Drowsiness
Ifosfamide may add to the sedating effects of medicines that cause drowsiness. These medicines should be used together cautiously.

Mifepristone
Mifepristone may increase the level of ifosfamide in your body, which could increase your risk for side effects. This interaction is more likely to be a concern when mifepristone is taken on an ongoing basis, as opposed to a one-time mifepristone dosage that is used to end an early pregnancy.

Pimozide
Ifosfamide may increase blood levels of pimozide, which could increase your risk for side effects. Talk to your healthcare provider before using these drugs together.

Roflumilast
Combining roflumilast with ifosfamide could further increase your risk for infections. Talk to your healthcare provider about this potential interaction before using these medicines together.

Sipuleucel-T
Sipuleucel-T may be less effective if taken with ifosfamide. This is because sipuleucel-T is thought to work by stimulating the body's immune system, while ifosfamide decreases the activity of the immune system. Talk to your healthcare provider about this possible interaction before using these medicines together.
