Drug Interactions With Ifosfamide

More Detail on Drug Interactions With Ifosfamide

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when ifosfamide is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

Alcohol
Alcohol may increase nausea and vomiting associated with ifosfamide treatment. It may also add to the central nervous system effects of the drug, such as drowsiness and confusion. Do not drink alcohol during treatment without first talking to your healthcare provider.

Amphotericin B
Combining ifosfamide with amphotericin B could increase your risk for potentially serious amphotericin B side effects, such as kidney damage, low blood pressure (hypotension), and breathing problems. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor you more closely if you use these medicines together.

Aripiprazole
Ifosfamide may increase blood levels of aripiprazole. This could increase your risk for side effects. If you use these medicines together, tell your healthcare provider if you experience any potential side effects of aripiprazole. Your healthcare provider may choose to adjust your dose.

Busulfan
Busulfan may increase the risk for hemorrhagic cystitis, a potentially serious ifosfamide side effect associated with bladder irritation and blood in the urine. If you use these medicines together, your healthcare provider may monitor you more closely for this condition.

Biologic and Immunologic Medications
Combining ifosfamide with certain medications that suppress the immune system could increase your risk for potentially serious side effects, including low blood cell counts and infections. Ifosfamide should not be used in combination with some biologic or immunologic medicines, while other combinations will require dosage adjustments or careful monitoring. Talk to your healthcare provider about this potential interaction if you are taking such drugs.
