Hydromorphone ER
Hydromorphone ER is a narcotic used for relieving chronic pain. This prescription medication comes in the form of extended-release tablets that release hydromorphone throughout the day. This medicine is not meant to be taken on an as-needed basis; it is used when around-the-clock use of a strong painkiller is needed for a long period. Common side effects include constipation and drowsiness.
Hydromorphone ER (Exalgo™) is a long-acting prescription pain medication. It should only be used when around-the-clock use of strong painkillers is necessary for an extended period (more than a few days).

Just like any medicine, hydromorphone ER can cause side effects. However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience problems. Most people tolerate it quite well. If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.
Common side effects seen with hydromorphone ER include but are not limited to:

- Nausea and vomiting
- Drowsiness
- Headaches.
