Histrelin Implant Insertion

When using histrelin implants (Supprelin® LA, Vantas®), the standard dosage is one implant surgically placed under the skin of the upper arm every 12 months. Each implant remains in the body for 12 months and contains 50 mg of histrelin.

As part of a minor surgical procedure, a healthcare provider will numb your arm and make a small incision (a cut) to allow the implant to be inserted under the skin. After insertion, the histrelin implant will continually release a certain amount of medication daily for one year. The implant must be removed after one year, at which time a new implant can be inserted.
