Hecoria Dosage

Your healthcare provider will calculate your individual dosage of Hecoria based on factors like your age, other medications you are taking, and the reason you are taking this drug. Hecoria comes as a capsule. It is taken twice daily, with 12 hours between each dose. Although you can take it with or without food, make sure to take it the same way each time.

An Introduction to Your Dosage of Hecoria

The dosage of Hecoria™ (tacrolimus) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:

  • The reason you are taking the medicine
  • How you respond to it
  • Your age
  • Your weight
  • Your Hecoria blood levels
  • Other medical conditions you may have
  • Other medications you are taking.

As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Dosing for Prevention of Kidney Transplant Rejection

The recommended initial dosage of Hecoria after a kidney transplant is 0.05 mg per kg twice a day (about 0.023 mg per lb) when used in combination with azathioprine (Imuran®) and 0.1 mg per kg twice a day (about 0.045 mg per lb) when used in combination with mycophenolate (CellCept®, Myfortic®). The first dose is given as soon as the kidneys appear to be functioning after the transplant surgery.

People with severe liver disease may require lower doses.
