Gliadel Waters

Were you looking for information about Gliadel? Gliadel waters is a common misspelling of Gliadel wafers.

If you have brain tumors called glioblastoma multiforme or malignant glioma, your healthcare provider may prescribe Gliadel® (carmustine implant). Available in the form of wafers, Gliadel is placed in the cavity that is left in the brain after the tumors are surgically removed. The wafers dissolve over time and release the medication, which works by preventing cancer cells from growing and multiplying. Seizures, headaches, and confusion are among the most commonly reported side effects.

(Click Gliadel for more information about how this medication works and how these wafers are surgically implanted, as well as general safety precautions you should be aware of before beginning treatment. You can also click any of the links in the box to the right for specific information.)
